The Unitarian Church of Harrisburg (UCH) is a welcoming religious community. No matter your age, race, gender, sexual orientation, or way of sensing or moving in the world, you are welcome.
Sunday services begin at 10:30 am at 1280 Clover Lane, Harrisburg 17113.
Doors open to each sanctuary 15 minutes before the worship service begins. Check with an usher about a printed Order of Service (also known as a bulletin), a name tag, accommodations for hard of hearing guests, and the location of volunteer-led childcare for babies and toddlers. Please sign the guest book and indicate if you would be interested in receiving the newsletter.
Worshipping With Our Children and Youth
All children and youth may stay with their parents during worship since we are not offering Sunday morning in-person Religious Education programming at this time. Please review our Children & Youth Religious Education Newsletters for alternatives. Decisions to gather in person will be made and updated in accordance with CDC guidelines, vaccination, and infection rates.
During this time of transition, nursery care is not being offered. Families of babies and toddlers are welcome to keep their little ones with them in the service or take breaks outside and then return to worship.
Whether a traditional service or a multigenerational service, worship usually includes hymns, meditation, prayer, choral and/or instrumental music, an opportunity to contribute to the offering, and a homily or sermon. We begin each worship service by lighting a flaming chalice, symbol of our Unitarian Universalist faith. Guests are invited to ignore the collection plate. There is NOT an expectation that guests will introduce themselves out loud during the worship service.
Members and friends arrive for worship wearing a variety of clothing styles. The majority attend in casual or business casual dress, wearing jeans or slacks or comfortable dresses. Some are in suits or traditional Sunday best. All are welcome.
After worship services, all are welcome to the social hour downstairs in the Common Room. Coffee and tea are available, and often cold beverages and snacks as well. (**Coffee Hour is suspended at this time.)
